From Simple Beginnings...

We have been breeding horses since 1982, starting with a small stud in the idyllic countryside of East Sussex, England with just 4 stables. Sport Horses Zadow owner Marianne Godwin, was a stable manager and horse educator at the award-winning enterprise "Shires Horses of Haremere Hall" at the same time. In the 1990s she took a short break from breeding to become stable manager and instructor for "Riding for the Disabled" in Singapore, Asia for six years. Marianne was also responsible for training the horses and ponies to become RDA mounts including ex race horses and polo ponies. In addition to the sixteen horses in her care she taught disabled riders (aged 7 to 25) - starting two of them towards para-olypmpic standard.

To a Stud in France...

Sport Horses Zadow, was founded - set in its superb, picturesque French landscape - in 2003. Our sires and mares all come from world class bloodlines. The aim of the breeding centre, is to create happy, healthy, handsome, excellent horses following the training principles of Marianne's 40 years experience as a rider, instructor and manager.

The horses at this stud are defined by their calm temperaments, kind natures, intelligent dispositions and stunning good looks. Following principles of more natural horsemanship the horses have been coached, in the stable and in the manege, to follow the instruction of their owner through the use of their own language. Sport Horses Zadow does not "break in" its horses. Through a process involving trust and acceptence, the horses give permission to be groomed, lunged and backed. We believe very strongly that a horse should be treated with absolute respect, nurturing the beauty and diversity of each individual's personality.
